With the official start of winter yesterday and dark nights setting in, it's always nice to think of next season - plus some upcoming events this autumn and beyond.

Firstly, we would all like to welcome new First Team Captain Richard Whitehurst. Rich joins us from Ossett and has already boosted bar takings during the Beach Party and Presentation Night! I'm sure all our members will welcome Rich and his family to the club, and we all wish him good luck.

We also have a new Second Team Captain - but this time it's a welcome back! Sam Thomas returns to the club after performing with credit for Darfield for the past two seasons, to take the reigns. Obviously everyone at Wath knows as Sam as well as his family, so no introduction are needed - hopefully he will lead us to promotion and back to Division One.

The South Yorkshire League Dinner is to be held on Saturday 17th November at Magna in Rotherham. Tickets are priced at £30 including a three course meal. We have had a cancellation recently, and so if anyone wishes to attend then please contact Robert Barlow as soon as possible.

On the subject of the dinner, we have a number of award winners:-

Robert Barlow - Championship all rounder
Haris Hussain - Championship wicket keeper and junior wicket keeper.
Harvey Wootton - Championship junior batting and junior bowling.
Alex Roebuck - Division Seven bowling and junior bowling.

Well done to all winners!

Speaking of Harvey, he is spending the winter in New Zealand playing for Lincoln Cricket Club in Canterbury. He has started the season in good form and his progress can be watched on the following link:

There's no hiding place now Salad!

We have a couple of upcoming functions in the next month or so. On Saturday November 10th the club will be open from around 6pm for an unofficial Social Evening to have a drink with our new captains and just have a general winter get together.

Saturday 1st December sees cracking local band The Rogues return to the club. Tickets are priced at just £3 - please contact Peter Barlow to reserve your place! The club will be open from 7pm so do all you can to support us.

Our Monthly Draw continues throughout the winter months with prizes of £150 and £50 to be won every month. Entry is just £1 a week and standing orders can be set up at just £4.33 a month. If you are interested in taking part then please contact Peter Barlow.
